To safeguard customers from unauthorized card use, KnownHost implements 3-D Secure verification on all debit or credit card transactions. 3D Secure is an extra layer of authentication for online card transactions, requiring cardholders to verify payments via a one-time password or banking app approval to prevent unauthorized use.

“Payment Authentication Failed” errors can occur during check out or invoice payment for the following reasons:

  • Pop-up blocker preventing 3D Secure authentication window.
  • The correct one-time password (OTP) was not entered.
  • Transaction was not approved via banking app or banking verification method
  • Bank institution required additional verification not completed
  • Banking institution does not support 3D Secure

How to correct this error?

  1. Ensure that there are no pop up blockers enabled. (This includes Firefox or Google built-in pop up blockers)
  2. Ensure you’re receiving your OTP either by SMS or Email; however it is delivered
  3. If your banking institution has app verification, confirm the transaction
  4. Contact your bank if you’re provided with a number to call, as your card may require additional permissions or may not support 3D Secure

If the issue persists and you’re still provided with a number to call, when calling ask for your banking institutions Fraud and Disputes department for 3D Secure related transactions.
